Our Black Sheep Club members are invited behind the scenes with Hugh and Mary to explore the influences of oak.
We explore three barrels of an identical parcel of Shiraz from our Cellar Vineyard, each of which has been resting in the finest, new oak from a different French Cooperage. The nuances of the flavour and structure between these three barrels are a revelation not to be missed.
Mary, alongside our winemaker, hosts an extensive masterclass and comparative tasting of the three Tonnellerie series wines, and members appreciate a Q&A session with our Oak representatives. Hugh entertains members with the vintage and vineyard details and hosts a comparative tasting of French Oak and American Oak.
Our members then hand bottle and label Shiraz direct from the barrel before indulging in a long lunch with Hugh, Pam, and Mary.
Members not only feel like novice winemakers at the end of the day, they have the opportunity to take home their wine with their name on it.
Now that’s a story to tell amongst friends!
