The story began nearly two centuries ago when the Hamilton family planted grape vines in South Australia in 1837 and made the first wine in the colony. ‘Pure Black’ Shiraz, our icon wine, carries the Hamilton family story into the 6th generation.
Hugh, Pam & Mary Hamilton launched this icon Shiraz ‘Pure Black’, to their most valued and loyal members in the stunning Mortlock Chamber of the State Library of South Australia. The invitation-only black tie event, which was held on Saturday the 21st of May 2016, surprised & delighted at every turn.
The evening consisted of exquisite dishes matched with wines carefully selected from the Hugh Hamilton Wines portfolio. Every element of the menu was interactive from self-assembled squid and lobster broth to festival style confit duck donuts. As the main was served, vapor from bowls of dry ice cascaded across the table and the dessert was accompanied by lavender atomiser that was sprayed by the chef. The guests experienced their meal with all five senses.
Pure Black is an invitation-only event and occurs in line with the release of next ‘Pure Black’ vintage. Do you want to find out more about our Black Sheep Club and other unique events? Click here.
