In celebration of 180 years in the Australian Wine Industry, Hugh and Mary have produced a 2016 Single Vineyard Shiraz. The delicate needle and thread represent the bloodline of six Generations of Australia’s Oldest Wine Family.
The ‘180th Commemorative Magnum’ hails from the vines which form the seemingly endless vineyard immediately to the south of our Cellar Door. The soil here is known as ‘Biscay Clay’, also referred to as ‘self-mulching black cracking clay’.
Enjoy in 10-20 years.
Dense like the black clay in which the vines grow. Intensely lifted notes of blackberries, dark cacao and black coffee.
Structured for length, the palate is assertive but not overbearing. The fine aromatics are consolidated on the palate.
This wine is no lightweight,
so pair it with bold dishes. We suggest a char grilled rib-eye with red wine jus.
